I limit my exposure to American media (too many lies, and I value my sanity.), but I am a political junkie by instinct, so the gas station on the corner has become my political totem pole. I look to it for wisdom and insight. It tells me much of what I need to know about the state of politics and the nation. I can then fill in the rest with selective reading online, avoiding “mainstream” media noise – almost – entirely.
Good news and bad news. First the good news: Last night’s GOP debate was probably the last one. The bad news: Last night’s GOP was probably the last one.
Update: The show was fun. I went on a rant about the Virginia abortion law 20 minutes in and lost it a bit. It makes me see red. TL did a great job unpacking Americans Elect and the mystery man who seems to be behind it. Also off topic but check out this link from downtown LA today. THIS is what the election could very well be about.

As testimony to just how far we’ve sunk consider this: The best political news of the day is that Romney has cut Santorum’s lead in Michigan to 4 points, down from 15 a week ago. That’s it. That’s the best news today. A foolish man who, at least, has a smidge of sanity (though no integrity) has closed the gap in his home state on an unapologetic lunatic. If there was a Democrat running on the other side this would not matter. It would be easy enough to support the Democrat and watch the GOP vaporize itself. We’d give it a shoulder shrug and move on.
